Publishers, developers, technology providers and consultants working in the serious games industry can now join the newly created Serious Games Association. The professional group is designed to support members of this community through educational conferences, special interest groups and other perks.
The Association will notably offer a Serious Games Directory, which will contain a listing of games and simulations available for purchase. These will be grouped by field and include games for learning, corporate games, government/military games, health and medical training games, as well as games for good. The Serious Play Conference, whose second edition is scheduled for August 21-23, 2012, will now be presented under the Serious Games Association banner. Discounted rates to the conference will be available to all members. The Association will also work on publishing marketing research on the serious games industry, serving as valuable tools for developers in the field.
In addition, the Serious Games Association will form Special Interest Groups, giving members the ability to promote the advancement of specific sectors of the industry. Those interested in participating are invited to sign up now. The Association will also support a dedicated blog and media site, which is soon to be live and set to feature industry news and new product announcements.
Basic individual membership rates are $35 USD per year. Corporate sustaining memberships are also available for $10,000 USD annually. Corporate members automatically become sponsors of the Serious Games Conference, in addition to receiving unlimited listings in the directory and other benefits.
