If you follow us on Twitter or Facebook, you’ll know that I’ve been working on an overhaul of the website for the past week or so. It’s going a bit slower than I expected for a variety of reasons, but I haven’t had any serious problems and more importantly I haven’t broken the current version of the site.
My ultimate goal is to make the site look a bit more modern, have it built on a cleaner, more optimized core and to make it more connected with social media. I will also be opening up the site to user registrations, either directly or using Facebook Connect. This will ultimately allow our readers to do things like mark favourite articles and interact with each other. Read More...
Over the next few days (I hope), you’ll see the site change, please bear with us while I get everything set up properly. The site will be up and down and maybe even offline for 12-24 hours at some point. All of our existing content will continue to be published and the URLs won’t change.
I may however not be able to salvage any comments currently posted because I intend to switch to an integrated solution rather than the third-party system we’ve been using. I apologize for any inconvenience and certainly don’t want people to think they’ve been censored.
All that aside, we still love to play games around here. LittleBigPlanet 2 dominated a good two weeks of our gaming time. We loved it and will be writing a review once the site work is out of the way. I also intend to review Top Darts and Tetris for PlayStation Network as well as ilomilo and Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 on Xbox LIVE Arcade in the coming weeks.
We’ve also got a few iOS games on the go and I’ve rediscovered the Xbox LIVE Indie Games service. In addition to all that, Nathalie has some feature ideas in the works and we just got a gently used Mac from her father that I intend to use to play App Store for Mac games on and maybe even develop an app of our own.
We’ll have no shortage of content in the coming weeks and months and frankly, I can’t wait to get back to writing more instead of pretending to be a web designer. Don’t get me wrong though, it’s fun and challenging and very rewarding to see progress getting made. I can’t wait to show you the new site.
Without the support of our readers, we wouldn’t have been able to afford to make a large overhaul at once. Thank you very much for reading and sharing our content, we’re getting bigger every month!
