FWD Progress 11-25-2009: The Big Move

A Thanksgiving TurkeyGame Forward is moving, but there’s no need to update your bookmarks. Nathalie and I had the opportunity to take over a much larger apartment in our building at a reasonable price. The best part is that it’s on the same floor, quite literally 15 feet away. It will give me a chance to have a dedicated office and I’m sure the cat will love having more space to create havoc.

This will likely be the last thing I post this month. Obviously, we’re a bit busy with the move. Also, with my personal favourite holiday, American Thanksgiving tomorrow, there isn’t much point publishing stuff when almost 80% of our traffic comes from the USA and no one will be around to read it. Next week will look artificially busy as we’ll have a bank of articles and reviews to publish. Read More…

I’m prepping questions for my CogniFit Personal Coach feature. I find the software very impressive and really appreciate what it is trying to do. I don’t think it’s any secret that I have trouble planning and organising tasks. The software noticed this and has catered my experience towards improving that aspect of my cognitive fitness so far. I can’t say for sure if it’s working, but at the very least it makes me feel more confident in my decision making.

My arm/shoulder/neck is still creating issues when it comes to playing games and working, but I have been playing as much as I can. I decided to change the format of The FWD Download features to a monthly rundown of what we’ve downloaded, whether we’ve already reviewed it or not. This format will  free up some time for some outside work and help me create less artificial pressure on myself to get things done.

Game Forward will be leaning more and more towards digitally distributed games as we prepare for the next generation of home consoles. Who knows, we might even buy a decent gaming PC next year. The November edition of The FWD Download will include brief reviews of: Gyromancer, Excitebike: World Rally, Pokemon Rumble, Frogger Returns, Creature Defense, Digidrive, Rope Raider and Skeleton Key.

I’m also forgoing full reviews of DJ Hero and LEGO Rock Band in favour of a Holiday 2009 Music Game Guide feature. I still need to rent Band Hero and Karaoke Revolution. I’ll also include Guitar Hero 5 and The Beatles: Rock Band in the feature.

Right now is all about streamlining for me. I want to make the most of the sometimes little time I get to work and have a clear slate going into my website reconstruction and expansion after the holidays.
