Well it was bound to happen sooner or later. I had some health-related downtime over the last few weeks and haven’t really been able to get a lot done around here. It’s frustrating to say the least. Because Game Forward is such a small team that it already feels like there aren’t enough hours in the day it hits me really hard when I have to take a day or two off in a week.
First and foremost on my to-do list is to get our feature on 7-128 Software up. It’s getting published this week if it kills me. They’re having their software demonstrated at GDC at the end of the month and I’d love for them to be able to use our feature as a reference point. They’re a really nice group of people and they recently took the time to thoughtfully answer some interview questions I sent over. Read More...
They also acknowledged Game Forward recently on their website as part of their yearly roundup of websites for gamers who are blind, motion impaired or deaf. We made the top 10 of their top 20 sites for motion impaired gamers and were included as a site to watch on their lists for blind and deaf gamers.
Game Forward was asked to cover an Interactive Ontario event called IN09 in Toronto in a couple of weeks; however because of time and budget constraints we will be unable to attend. We were also recently contacted by DARPA, who asked permission to use one of our articles in an internal newsletter. I can’t begin express how much recognition like this means to me on a personal level.
I don’t have much to report in the site improvement area this time. I was about to activate our content rotator this morning and saw that there was an updated version out, so I’ll mess around with for a couple of days before getting it activated. Everything’s pretty much on cruise control at this point.
I’m still planning on installing JomSocial to house some community features, but in the meantime I’d encourage you to join our Facebook Group or follow Nathalie and myself on Twitter. The budget says mid-May for a more permanent solution.
On the gameplay front, we’re certainly not at a loss for stuff to play and review. I’m getting Nathalie to play Sway on the iPod Touch and we’re both playing WordFu, though she will be the one writing up the review. I’ve got a ton of iPhone/iPod Touch games to go through myself. I’m already writing a review for Just Fillin’, but I’ve got Zen Bound, Ancient Frog, Kern and Orbitsu lined up as well.
I didn’t abandon my NHL 3-on-3 Arcade or NASCAR Kart Racers reviews either, but neither is really high on my priority list right now. Over the next couple weeks I’ll be playing Trivial Pursuit on the 360, Peggle for Xbox LIVE Arcade, Scrabble on PSP and I’m planning on reviewing the Prince of Persia Epilogue DLC. I also want to check out the Balance Board supporting Marble Saga: Kororinpa if I have the time.
I’m also getting excited about the imminent launch of the Nintendo DSi. The impressions from Japanese owners have been quite positive, especially in regards to DSiWare, which is what has me excited the most. I’ll probably end up doing a hardware review as it’s the first system I’ll have bought at launch since having a website.
I’ve noticed a marked increase in the amount of ad clicks we’ve been getting over the last several weeks, so I’d like to express a huge thank you to those that take the time to support Game Forward. Keep reading and tell your friends!
