There are several industry events taking place in coming weeks relating to serious games. Here is an update to our previous listing of upcoming industry events.
The Serious Games Summit will be running from March 23-24, as part of the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco. The event will spotlight the rapidly growing serious games industry that features the use of interactive games technology within non-entertainment sectors. The summit will provide a forum for game developers and industry professionals to examine the future course of serious games development in areas such as education, government, health, military, science, corporate training, first responders and social change. Serious Games Breakthrough is a conference call taking place on March 26 which will discuss the effectiveness of serious games for businesses and where the industry is likely to head in coming years. The strategic consulting event is organized for serious game vendors by Forrester Research.
On March 30, the eGames: Serious Play Conference will be taking place in Muscat, Oman. The event is organized by Knowledge Oasis Muscat and will feature a speaker line-up of international serious games developers and experts. The conference will also promote the development of educational games.
The Central Pennsylvania Chapter American of the Society of Training and Development, the Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, and JPL Creative are teaming together to host two free Let’s Get Serious…Games forums. The presentations will be taking place on April 2 and 3 at Harrisburg University and will look at different approaches for designing, developing, and implementing gaming strategies as part of e-Learning initiatives.
The Australian Film Television and Radio School will be hosting a seminar workshop titled Documentary 2.0 - Serious Games on April 3. The intersection between documentary filmmaking and games will be explored in this seminar and workshop, providing deep insight into the potential of Serious Games. The event will bring participants up to speed with the latest developments in serious games and provide an opportunity for them to present their own concepts and workshop ideas with experts.
